Piles and Piles

pile of pillows

Things are really starting to pile up around here. I’ve got one week of production left for the One of a Kind Show and then its trimming, packing and ironing. And maybe a little organzing too of all this stuff. I’ve got some new scarves I am finishing up this week and a new design I am still working out. But I am so excited the bulk of the work is done. Its giving me a nice break from all the hard work!

Hope everyone has a great week!

PS- I’ll be doing a giveaway for One of Kind Show tickets later this week. I’ll send it out once its live. Good luck.

Just a few quick updates to start the week before I head  off to the dentist this very cold morning. First, I’ve been working on a few new things like this little mini pouch above. I really like how the black print turned out. And I’ll be starting some giveaways shortly for tickets to the One of a Kind Show. I’l be doing a couple giveaways so keep entering to win.

Hope everyone is staying warm!

Display Weeks

studio window display

Good morning everyone. This week or actually two weeks its my turn to share my work in the co-op’s new display window. Sorry I couldn’t get a better picture but it shows my drawing, screen and final piece from start to finish. Its up at 401 Richmond for two week which is a nice little showcase for me.

This week I’m working away on scarves. And have a few new ones to share, once I get the photos done. And I also start pillows.  Just three more weeks of production time before the One of a Kind Show and still lots left to do. Although, I am making smaller quantities of things now so it seems a little bit easier for me.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Family Day, Slow Start

moose with lock

Hi everyone! Its a bit of a slow start to

the week this week. It was Family Day here in Ontario yesterday so I got a bit of break from production. And since I just met my latest production milestone it was perfect timing. Also, its February and this is a cranky winter so an extra day off is always good.

I also finished off last week by sending a donation to a brave young woman doing a gap year in a orphanage in Cambodia. I can’t afford to donate much, but I could handle a pencil case for a silent auction for her to raise even more funds. And consdering the timing of Family day, it was nice to give something to those who don’t have families yet. If you want to see more about her and her plans, you can see Chloe’s site here: http://www.gofundme.com/5xmi58

This week production gets a little but more fun for me. I have more variety in the things I am making and also mor eroom for play. I also have a few new things to show you for the show but they will be coming once I get a chance to take some nice photos. In the meantime, have a lovely week!

And a stumbling block

fish hook heart

I’ve been working away increasing my production for the Spring One of a Kind Show. Yay, and on this past friday hit my first stumbling block. Or maybe it was more my sewing machine hit a stumbling block. I took it in to be serviced and should find out how its doing this afternoon. Fingers crossed it comes back just fine and doesn’t delay me. Its only a slight recoverable delay at this point but if there are major expensive problems with it, I could be in trouble. Eeek.

In the meantime, I’ve been updating my shop with some improved photos. My feather jewerly is so hard to photograph, the camera just doesn’t pick up the texture very well. But I learned a few new tricks and the photos are getting a bit better. And while I was taking photos I took the above shot to share a little valentine’s day and olympic love.

Here’s a great little article on the joy of craft from Apartment Therapy and its describes better than I can how satifying making can be. Its something I feel really lucky to get almost everyday.

Hope you have a great week!
